I made up just a liter of bubble juice to see what a Charmy /Guar Gum juice would be like with a water:detergent ratio of 33:1 since at 25:1 the Charmy mix creates a film that is like a 16:1 (or less) Dawn Pro mix.
The results were epic. It is a good thing that I made only 1 liter (+30 ml) of juice -- or I would never have gotten back indoors to work. (Sadly, I must work...boo hoo.)
Temperature was 62F and humidity 75%.
The mix was very hastily prepared with room temperature water:
- 1 liter water
- 1/4 heaping teaspoon (very heaping) Bob's Red Mill guar gum
- rubbing alcohol to slurry
- slurry the guar gum in a 16 ounce cup -- add about 250 ml (8 ounces) of the 1 liter water.
- stir and let it sit for a few minutes
- 30 grams Charmy added to the remaining water
- stirred in the guar mixture
- add 1/2 slightly heaping teaspoon Rumsford baking powder
About 10 minutes later, I went outside.
Setup[]
The wick materials: mop yarn top and single-strand twine bottom. The loop capacity was not a limiting factor on bubble size today. If I had more juice, I am confident that I could have made bubbles as large as I have ever made. I had so little juice to start with that after a short while there was not enough juice to completely submerge the loop. So, there was some foam on the loop that played a role.
VIDEO[]
These videos are in HD. I recommend watching them on YouTube in HD to fully enjoy them. Make sure to choose the HD resolution.
The first video shows three large bubbles all from one dip. The first bubble is quite a bit larger than it looks -- it stretches most of the way across the street (maybe 15 or 18 feet). The three bubbles together make a lot of bubble from one dip of a loop that has just a single strand of twine as the bottom string.

Dilution and Color[]
In the pictures below, notice the difference in the colors created with different dilutions. The color differences are the result of differences in the film thickness that are related to the dilution. Charmy when activated with either baking powder or baking soda+citric acid or by a minute amount of citric acid is quite a bit more powerful than Dawn Pro -- although without activation it seems a bit less strong than Dawn Pro:
