A few people, including master equipment hacker Rick Findley, have mentioned that PEX pipe works well and can be made into hoops. 1/2" pipe by Sharkbite has been recommended. A travel hoop can be made from section of PEX that are joined together by friction-fit fittings. We hope to have an article illustrating this technique.
