This is a simple method that turns ordinary kitchen strainers into "super hoops."
An ordinary plastic kitchen strainer.
With a hacksaw, cut off the 2 ears at the top of the strainer
With a utility knife, trim off the mesh
Now, you are ready to move on to the next step. I keep the mesh for other possible uses.
Using a common hacksaw or coping saw, cut notches into the front and back edges of the rim as shown.
...top and bottom.
The notches provide crannies for bubble juice and will result in 4 times the bubbles of a notchless hoop.
